Armed Forces Covenant Fund

Armed Forces Covenant Fund

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (the Trust) supports the Armed Forces Covenant by delivering funding programmes that create real change to Armed Forces communities across the UK. We are a charity and are classified as a Non-Departmental Public Body, or NDPB. We look after the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, worth £10M each year.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund has four broad funding themes now and in future years:

  • Non-core healthcare services for veterans
  • Removing barriers to family life
  • Extra support, both in and after Service, for those that need help
  • Measures to integrate military and civilian communities and allow the Armed Forces community to participate as citizens

We also work with HM Government to run other funding programmes that have a positive impact on Armed Forces communities. Full details of our work and funding opportunities can be found at www.covenantfund.org.uk

SSAFA

SSAFA

SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, is a UK charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents.

Who we help

Our support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. They are all entitled to lifelong support from SSAFA, no matter how long they have served.

How we help

SSAFA helps the armed forces community in a number of ways, though our focus is on providing direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care. Addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression and disability are all issues that can affect our members of our Armed Forces community.

SSAFA works in partnership with other military charities and specialist organisations to ensure that those who turn to us for help get the support they need. Our volunteer network reaches into every county of the UK.

Locally SSAFA has teams (known as Divisions) in Portsmouth (covering postcodes PO1-PO6), Gosport and Havant. Given the uncertainties resulting from the ongoing pandemic it is best to contact the teams by email as follows:

  • portsmouth@ssafa.org.uk
  • gosport@ssafa.org.uk
  • havent@ssafa.org.uk

SSAFA can also be contacted using the Forcesline number 0800 2606767, which is open 09:00-17:30 Monday to Friday.

The Hive

The Hive

HIVE Portsmouth works with local people, groups and organisations in a way that recognises and nurtures the strengths of individuals, families and communities and helps to build independence and self-reliance as an alternative to a dependence on traditional services.

They connect people and organisations to share, support and learn in order to meet the needs of individuals and are committed to working together with the objective of building a happier, healthier and more connected city.

Fundamental to this growing mandate is the increasing recognition that voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are valuable strategic partners in developing and offering a trusted resource.
